“When disabled girls are born to poor families in rural areas, they suffer from total neglect and are allowed to rot and waste away their lives. We at Cheshire Homes India open our doors to such girls and help transform their lives and become productive members of society. With a sudden crunch of funds due to the pandemic we are now struggling to sustain the 28 girls under our care. If we don’t receive the required funds, these girls would lose their home, which is their family and their bedrock of support. We need all the help you can give. Please help us continue providing them a safe shelter.” - Air Marshal Philip Rajkumar, chairman.
A safe home for girls with disabilities
Little Varsha’s smile fills the room when someone asks her to recite math tables. A cheerful child and a bright student, it's been six years since she came to Cheshire Homes India, a safe abode for girls with disabilities, and made the other residents and staff her family. Paralysed from waist down due to a neural defect, Varsha’s own parents abandoned her when she was only three months old.
Varsha is one of the 28 differently abled girls who have found a safe shelter at Cheshire Homes, which supports physically challenged and vulnerable girls through free boarding, lodging, education and medical care. But this haven for girls with disabilities is now facing a major financial crisis due to the pandemic. With donations receding and funds shrinking the home cannot hold on for long . Your contribution can help them provide essential care to 28 girls in need. Don’t let them lose their loving home.
28 vulnerable girls have nowhere else to go
Cheshire Homes India spends around ₹16,000 a month per girl to meet all their needs - which includes nutrition and shelter, education, skills training and medical assistance through physiotherapy and corrective surgeries. But with the dwindling number of donors due to the ongoing pandemic, they are struggling to fulfil it. They need your urgent help to continue caring for these girls who have nowhere else to go.
“The home is their family. If the fund inflow stops, then the future of these girls will be affected. They have nowhere else to go. Please help us continue taking care of them and create opportunities to provide an enabling environment to achieve their full potential to lead an independent life,” pleads chairman Air Marshal Philip Rajkumar.
Donate now to ensure 28 disabled young girls are not at risk of being abandoned again and continue to live in the only home they know.
