AN APPEAL TO UNITE AGAINST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Millions across the globe were caught off guard by the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. Among all, the worst hit was the underprivileged segment of the society.

The eventual loss of jobs among the marginalised section due to COVID-19 lockdowns and lack of basic resources further worsened the already existing hunger and poverty situation. Daily wage workers and marginalised families neither had any source of income nor any source of food. 

In response to this crisis, The Akshaya Patra Foundation began its COVID-19 Food Relief Service on 25 March 2020. The Foundation has been serving cooked meals every day to daily wage workers, migrant labourers, marginalised families, and needy people at old age homes and night shelters. 

So far, Akshaya Patra has served 2,84,92,715 cooked meals to the people in need. It is catering to the needy across 19 states across India. The Foundation aims to serve 3 crore cooked meals soon.
