As special needs children grow up into young adults, their abilities increase and also their restlessness and hyperactivity. They are unable to focus and sustain themselves in specific activities.

A healing and rhythmic creative world is what is the need of the hour. The self – satisfaction that they derive from producing things which can be made use of by others and the feeling of being a part of the society gives immense joy to them and helps them to move on further.

As they move into adolescence and later into adulthood, the frustration of the family members become more pronounced as their needs are more demanding and behavioral issues crop up and meeting it especially in an under privileged family becomes very difficult.

A sustained vocational skill provides them a day-to-day work and to top it all a decent remuneration (stipend) based on their productivity in something which can help them to get settled in life.

This method alone can help alleviate the problems that arise out of the adulthood development of special needs people.

The ECO-FRIENDLY PAPER PENCIL MAKING PROJECT of Arvind Foundation is thus a unique one which serves as a boon to special needs people.

The covid and post covid scenario is very difficult for our underprivileged special needs students ‘s family as many of them are daily wage laborers. With no fixed family income in sight, the parent’s feel the responsibility of the special needs people as burdensome.

Enrolling the special needs students in a project that will fetch them a reasonable income will help mitigate the grave situation back home to a certain extent.

Arvind Foundation’s dream project ‘PAPER PENCIL MAKING’ aims to target such students who have the ability to do things under guidance and also keep their hyper activeness and restlessness under check.

This unique project is not only Eco-friendly (thereby contributing to the wellness of the society) but also a simple and learners friendly one. This project also aims to target self-help group for mothers of special needs students who are not employed anywhere.

Raising a team of responsible special needs youth who can find a meaning to their life is the main focus of this project.

Hand holding them and taking them step by step to achieve fulfillment is the road to success.

The impact that this project will have is something unique.
