Astha Rehabilitation Shelter – Restoring Dignity to Abandoned Elders

Astha Rehabilitation Shelter is a sanctuary of compassion for elderly individuals who have been abandoned, neglected, or left to survive on the streets. Our shelter in Nagpur, Maharashtra, currently cares for over 150 vulnerable residents — many of whom are disabled, mentally ill, or in fragile health.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to offer not just shelter, but dignity, love, and a renewed sense of purpose to those society has forgotten.

What We Do

• Rescue & Outreach: We conduct regular rescue operations, identifying and safely bringing in elders from streets, bus stops, hospitals, and other hazardous urban environments.
• Safe Shelter & Personal Care: Every resident is provided with clean, secure accommodation, emotional support, and attentive personal care in a home-like environment.
• Nutritious Meals: Residents receive three balanced meals a day, tailored to meet the dietary needs of the elderly.
• Medical Support: We offer regular check-ups, chronic illness management, emergency care, and palliative services for those in end-of-life stages.
• Mental & Emotional Well-being: Through music, prayer, group activities, and trauma counseling, we strive to rebuild their sense of joy, belonging, and peace.
• Family Reunification (When Possible): In some cases, after counseling and mediation, we help reunite elders with their families.
