AThlete Unleashed Blind Cricket Camp

While the Indian Men's Cricket Team celebrates their recent ICC Men's T20 World Cup victory with access to world-class facilities, the Indian Blind Cricket Team, which has won three World Cups in last 10 years, often lacks similar high-end resources & visibility. This disparity is stark despite their remarkable achievements.

Campaign Overview:

The AThlete Unleashed Blind Cricket Camp is a transformative 2-day program designed to train persons with visual impairment in Blind Cricket. This initiative aims to train 100 visually impaired individuals in essential cricketing skills & equip them with necessary Assistive Technology to aid their daily lives & career in sports. It seeks to open avenues for individuals with visual impairment who show sporting flair, particularly from rural areas and marginalized communities, providing them access to training facilities they wouldn't otherwise have.

This cricket camp is being organized by AssisTech Foundation in partnership with Shekhar Naik Foundation wherein the training & premium coaching will be done by Shekhar Naik (Padma Shree Awardee & Former Captain Indian Blind Cricket Team). It's truly inspiring to witness Shekar Naik, a blind individual himself, leading the charge in training so many through the Shekar Naik Foundation. India has won two T20 World Cups under his captaincy.

We are raising funds for a series of four camps that will collectively empower 100 players.

Objectives:

• Training: Provide intensive cricket training to 100 visually impaired individuals.
• Awareness: Conduct sessions on Assistive Technology facilitated by AssisTech Foundation, educating participants on how AT can enhance their daily lives and sporting careers.
• Empowerment: Equip participants with the skills and technology to pursue careers in blind cricket and live inclusively at par with others.

Our hope is to propel the careers of talented individuals with visual impairment in blind cricket, envisioning them as future stars and inspirations within their communities.

Previous Success: The success of our inaugural camp, held at IIM Bangalore and training 25 blind cricketers, has inspired us to approach this upcoming camp with even greater rigor and commitment. The enthusiasm and skill demonstrated by these athletes were exceptional, motivating us to expand our efforts and make an even more profound impact. The cricket camp was enabled by a generous donation of our patrons Rita & Satish Goel.
