ATMA Harmony Village

Institutionalised care of destitute children in India is often limited to providing them food, shelter and clothing. To get out of the poverty cycle, these children also need access to quality education, opportunities for sustenance, and individual mentoring support.

On the other hand, senior citizens in retirement homes and elderly homes are surrounded by an ambience of death and disease – they have nothing to look forward to, and there is no joy and purpose in their days. They deserve a better life.

The ATMA Harmony Village is a unique project that will provide boarding, support and care to Elders and Children. Many community service projects – Women’s Homes, Youth Homes, Counselling Centre, Skill Development Centre, Geriatric Health Centre, etc - will also be initiated from this campus. An effective interaction will be facilitated among the elders and children. The children will get the love and care of the 'grandparents' and will be mentored by trained volunteers and professionals. This will improve their emotional security and self esteem, helping them succeed in life. The Elders can take an active role in the children’s life, and also participate in the various service initiatives. This will give joy and purpose to their days. They will receive care and support at all levels, and can also contribute back to society – which will enhance their dignity and quality of life. The project is in the land acquisition stage. This campaign aims to raise INR 40 Lakhs to buy one acre of land for the ATMA Harmony Village.

ATMA Harmony Village will be a model project which will change the very concept of institutionalised care.

Interaction among the different beneficiary groups will create a synergy that will benefit all, and make the project sustainable.

The elderly, children, women, and youth here can lead a dignified life of happiness and service.

This project, when completed, will be a replicable model, which may be emulated by other institutions, thus multiplying the impact manifold.
