Back To School Campaign - April 2018

In a survey, we have done across 4 cities 85% childhood cancer survivors had missed more than one year of education because of cancer. CanKids is progressing in our efforts of support and reaching out to more children with cancer and their families, but still a lot to be achieved, and one of that is tough, painful time that these children have to face during their treatment, not only of the painful procedures, but also through the stigma still attached to the disease leading to most of the children facing the ignominy, as they are forced to miss years of their precious childhood, their friends, education

We at CanKids advocate for Children for their Right to education through our non formal education model, through which our specially trained teachers through specially devised individual curriculums based on the capabilities, understanding of each child helps the children to be best with education, so they do not feel left out once they go back after their treatment. Back to School, is a campaign to salute the fighting spirits of these children by providing them books, school bags, stationery, colors, lunch boxes, water bottles and so on, as to provide them much better feel when they are with our non-formal education teachers at the centers. Also, collect funds through online platform INR1500/- towards learning activity cost per child or INR 6000/- for annual education scholarship per child.

In the year 2017-18, CanKids have reached out to 13,244 children with cancer across PAN India to give education through 3500 learning sessions at our CanKids Chattai Clinics at 51 CanKids Hospital support Units (CHSUs) in 18 cities. Children are getting awareness about education opportunities during their cancer treatment and applying for the scholarships and funds. At CanKids we have provided more than 300 education scholarships to kids across India to do secondary and senior secondary studies.
