Every Child Deserves A Childhood - Even If It Is Behind Prison Walls

Imagine spending your earliest years behind prison walls.

For dozens of children living with their incarcerated mothers, this is not imagination, it is a reality for hundreds of children in India. Born into circumstances beyond their control, these young children spend their most critical developmental years in an environment that was never designed for childhood.

At the Sambhaji Nagar -Aurangabad Women's Prison, children under the age of six live alongside their mothers in confinement. While their mothers serve their sentences, these children serve none. Yet they often grow up without access to the stimulation, play, learning, and nurturing spaces that every child needs to thrive.

This is why Rachna'sFunclub Foundation is establishing it's 7th Nanhe Kadam Crèche inside Aurangabad Women's Prison.

Your support will help us:

• To establish a fully functional, child-friendly crèche within Aurangabad Prison for children aged 0–6 years living with incarcerated mothers.
• To provide a safe, structured environment that supports children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• To ensure access to age-appropriate learning material, play-based activities, and daily routines that foster healthy development.
• To reduce children’s exposure to the prison environment by offering a dedicated space designed specifically for early childhood needs.
• To support incarcerated mothers by ensuring their children receive consistent care, stimulation, and learning during the day.

Why This Matters

Children growing up inside prisons are exposed to multiple risk factors, including lack of stimulation, limited social interaction, and an environment not designed for early childhood development.

Research shows that the first six years of life shape a child's future. Without adequate stimulation, interaction, and early learning experiences, children are at risk of developmental delays, emotional distress, and difficulties later in school and life.

A crèche can change that story.

It can replace isolation with discovery. 

Fear of isolation with a sense of security.

Confinement with possibility.

But we cannot do this alone.
