Story

HELP US BUILD A COMPREHENSIVE CANCER HOSPITAL, DRIVEN BY COMPASSION, IN TIRUNELVELI

Tirunelveli and its adjoining regions face a severe cancer burden that is on par with metropolitan areas. Some of the major concerns the district is facing include high-risk lifestyle, occupational hazards (especially women), economic barriers and limited healthcare infrastructure.

Last year, we kickstarted the construction of Nellai Cancer Hospital (NCH) in Sengulam, Tirunelveli. Phase 1 of the hospital will be:

  • 33-bed ground floor facility
  • Key services: chemotherapy, diagnostic services and surgeries, preventive oncology, critical care and supportive care services.
  • Key facilities: chemo wards, 2 operation theatres, ICU, outpatient facilities, laboratory, emergency, diagnostic facilities - X-ray, mammogram etc.
  • Supportive care, Critical care, Preventive Oncology, Outreach.

Phase 1 of NCH is expected to be launched by early 2026.

OUR CORE PHILOSOPHY

Our organisation is rooted in building a selfless community that is empathetic and compassionate towards its fellow human beings. Both NCCC and NCH will:

- provide compassionate cancer care at every stage for patients and extend support to their carers and family

- not turn away any patient due to lack of funds

WHY SUPPORT US?

UUPCT is a 25-year-old charitable organisation headquartered in Chennai working in the areas of cancer care, education and women empowerment. We are registered under FCRA, CSR, 80G and with the Social Stock Exchange.

We have been providing compassionate cancer care services to people of Tirunelveli since 2011

UUPCT's dedicated Nellai Cancer Care Centre has been providing comprehensive cancer care services to poor and underprivileged cancer patients, in and around Tirunelveli, since 2011. This initiative was set up under the guidance and mentorship of Late Dr Shanta, Ex-Chairperson of Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai to primarily improve the health outcomes of cancer patients.

The services we provide fall under the WHO Framework for Cancer Care continuum - awareness, screening, diagnosis, treatment and palliative care services. So far we have given cancer awareness to 2.5lakh people, 70k individuals screened for cancer, 2500+ camps conducted, 1.5k patients treated and home-based palliative care given for 360 patients.

OUR APPEAL

By joining hands with us, and contributing to the construction of NCH, we are fighting the cancer battle together.

This is a people's movement that aims to fight cancer with compassion.

Your support will help bridge a key care gap in the community.

Support us today. Be a part of transformative history tomorrow.
