The students we work with face multiple barriers to opportunity, before and during their transition to higher education - from lack of mentors and confidence to financial constraints. As a result, many talented students are not able to realise their ambition of accessing high-quality higher education. These students are from rural locations with limited parental education, poor access to information and resources, low understanding of pathways to higher education and career development, lack of soft skills like English language fluency, and computer skills and limited access to social networks.

Karta Catalyst Scholarships are offered in partnership with world-leading universities to students from rural areas across India for their higher education. These rural youth receive all the support they need to thrive at university which includes 

• Application support
• Funding for tuition and living expenses
• Personal & professional development through university
• Internship placements
• 1-to-1 mentoring 
• Career transition support 

The students selected for the Karta Catalyst Scholarships are in the age group of 15-22 years and from underprivileged communities. The students are selected based on set criteria and a rigorous selection process. We support students right from class XIth to their admission into premier universities (various premier universities in India, the UK and Canada), till they get into well-meaning livelihoods (employment/entrepreneurship).

Karta Initiative has strong partnerships with premier universities across the world and in India. Most of them have provided a waiver for full tuition fees and partial living expenses. Few partner universities are as below

• UK- Oxford, Imperial, UCL, Edinburgh, Bristol
• Canada- Queen’s, McGill, University of Toronto, Western
