BIDV India - Global Race to 1000km for COVID Relief

Who are we:

We are a team of software engineers, analysts and project manages know as the BIDV team in Barclays. The BIDV team has 47 people and is currently split into 3 different geographies around the world; UK, US and India. 

The current members of the India team are: Shirish, Kapil, Dinesh, Hitesh, Vibha, Kaushik, Anish, Samiksha, Tejas, Jatin, Somnath, Himanshu, Bhagyashree, Dipan, Chirag, Shriniwas, Gaurav and Mahima.

What we are doing:

We have all been working from home since the end of March due to COVID so we thought it was time to get active again. The BIDV team are trying to raise as much as possible for Concern India Foundation's COVID relief by seeing which geography can run/walk/cycle/hike/skateboard/etc the most until the global team reach 1000KM total distance covered. This is roughly the distance from Plymouth to Inverness, Mumbai to Kerala or Detroit to Kansas City!

We are aiming to get this completed as quickly as possible and within a week if we can. This is an average of 3.2KM a day per team member globally, so that means a lot of activities for us!

About the Foundation:

Concern India Foundation is a 27+ year old registered non-profit, public charitable trust that extends financial and non-financial support to grassroots NGOs working in the areas of education, health and community development. Our policy of identification, monitoring and evaluation is our key strength. Each of our offices has a team of Social Work Professionals who identify the NGOs for support and help them strengthen their systems. Every programme is monitored and evaluated periodically to ensure that the funds extended to them are being used as per plan.

Through our efforts in 2018-19, our initiatives have helped bring about a direct positive change in the lives of children, youth, women, the differently-abled (children, youth, adults), the aged, farmers, rural communities from marginalised sections of society in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Our work has helped prevent child labour and child marriages, created permanent solutions for water supply & water conservation, improved quality of life, increased income, encouraged sustainable use of renewable energy, increased employability and supported the promotion of quality education & infrastructure support to the underprivileged. Over 2.3 lac marginalized people benefited through our programmes.

Our support to:

• Educational initiatives impacted 26277 children and over 2000 youth
• Grass root level programmes in the area of health and hygiene improved the lives of 34334 people
• Has reached over 3700 people with disability and over 400 elderly.
• Community development like natural resource management, livelihoods, women empowerment and community at large has directly benefited 189612 individuals.
• We have serviced over 35 CSRs partners in the reporting year through end to end to project management.
