Bihar Flood Relief 2019

This year, incessant rainfall has deluged various states of the country to the grim situation of floods.

The wrath of Mother Nature continues as heavy rainfall causes floods in the state of Bihar, throwing normal life out of gear. Over 30 people have lost their life to the calamity and IMD has retained its 'red colour' warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state in the coming days.

NDRF has evacuated 4,000 citizens from flooded areas in Patna and as many as 19 teams of NDRF have been deployed in Bihar.

Railway traffic, vehicular movement, healthcare services, schools and power supply have been disrupted in the state, and the cuty of Patna is said to be hit the hardest.

Bhumi is a PAN India volunteer based organisation working to educate underprivileged children. Since the tragedy struck, our volunteers have been collecting relief funds to contribute effectively to needs. These funds will be used for flood victims to provide shelters, food, medicine, water,first aid etc to the needy people. Our volunteer will be in action and we will try to reach/help as much people as we can. 

The money will be used for the immediate relief for shelter homes, schools, and those displaced into relief camps and temporary shelters. We shall be providing basic necessities such as food, clothing, mats, and blankets. There is also a requirement to provide clean drinking water and take measures to prevent the spread of water and mosquito borne communicable diseases.

Work in the Past:

In 2015, when Chennai was struck by floods, Bhumi mobilised support to build homes in Thiruvallur district, procured materials like school bags and uniform to enable children to go back to school, and refurbished severely affected shelter homes/orphanages.
