The poor women of reproductive age are vulnerable and are always at risk because they don’t have access to clean and hygienic-sanitary pads. They often used dirty and synthetic clothes which increased vulnerability to reproductive tract infections and pelvic inflammatory diseases and other complications. These problems affect their married life and often women faced domestic violence.
JanMitra Nyas distributed thousands of sanitary pads and organized thousands of awareness meetings among the most marginalized and excluded communities in the Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. The women and girls started to save money for buying sanitary pads but due to the COVID-19 crisis, they started to again use dirty clothes.
JanMitra Nyas will teach women for manufacturing reusable sanitary napkins or cloth pads to support better menstrual hygiene for women from low-income groups. JanMitra Nyas will train volunteers from marginalized communities, who will make a sanitary pad and also will teach women and girls for making cotton reusable sanitary pads in the Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh.
The washable napkins don’t just ensure menstrual health but are also environment friendly and provide employment opportunities to disadvantaged women, engaging them in hand-stitching the reusable pads.
Support us by providing sanitary to women and girls of 3200 families.
