Build classrooms for 600 Government School Children at GHPS Kodathi, Bangalore

Building classrooms for a government school has the potential to impact generations of children. Good infrastructure can also greatly improve the quality of education it provides. In 2015, our partner government school at Kodathi had a total of 70 children and 6 classrooms.

Today, through our engagement over seven years - it is bustling with more than 400 students from mostly migrant families - all eager to learn. They now have 16 classrooms, but they’re still jostling for space. As a temporary measure, we have put up grilled enclosures and use the school corridors as classrooms - as learning cannot wait. 

With a projected growth of up to 600 children in the next academic year, the school needs a total of 8 additional classrooms, 6 of which Gubbachi have pledged to build.

Using good quality building materials, we will construct the following learning spaces to accommodate our gubbis:

• A science laboratory
• A pre-primary section
• Four additional classrooms

Since 2015, we have added 10 more classrooms. Additionally, we have also added a computer lab and a library - both of which are used every day.

Upgrading the infrastructure at Kodathi will:

• provide learning spaces for all 600+ students
• ensure every child is efficiently engaged in learning
• positively impact the quality of education
