Story

Pioneering Family-Centred Child Development in Goa

Sethu Centre for Child Development and Family Guidance is a pioneer in inclusion in sunny Goa. Our multi-disciplinary team provides award-winning services to neuro-developmentally disabled children and their families, anganwadi workers at the government’s Integrated Child Development Scheme, as well as school teachers and students.

Nineteen years since we started, we can no longer overlook our need for a space that lends itself to giving and getting the best of our professionals and those we serve (10,000 registrations and counting!).

So we embarked on our most audacious project. Our new, inclusive building, the first of its kind in Goa, will provide:

  • Custom-equipped rooms for therapy, counselling, and testing to provide comprehensive, individualised assessments and therapies, and reduce waiting time.
  • Family-centred care in welcoming, comfortable spaces where families can access resources and connect supportively with our professionals and other families.
  • Space for workshops, support groups and programmes vital to our mission of building an inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming community.

Because Every Child Deserves to be Nurtured and Celebrated

The post-pandemic price rise has increased the cost of building our new centre, raising our initial estimate to Rs 10 crore, of which we've already raised Rs 6 crore. Now that the grey structure’s complete, we need to raise Rs 2 crore immediately so that we can begin the interiors.

Learning! Freedom! Independence!

Our interior and exterior spaces will be designed to enable every child who walks through our doors to reach their best potential and thrive in every way. We'll have custom-designed therapy and training rooms, family care and counselling spaces, accessible toilets, indoor and outdoor play areas, and so much more.

Our colour schemes will enable kids with low vision to see while soothing those who are easily stimulated. A lift for kids with mobility difficulties. Signage that makes it easy for anyone to get around. In short, a sight unseen in our state before.

Goa is small but the outpouring of generosity from within and far beyond our borders continually leaves us amazed.

Where There’s a Child, There’s a Way

Pretty special? Goa’s most vulnerable children deserve no less.

Every brick helps us build a future where every child and family has access to the care they’re entitled to.

Join us! Together, let’s build a place where neurodiversity is celebrated, and inclusion thrives!

Dev borem korum. Dhanyavad. Thank you!
