Imagine a world where every child has the equal chance to play, to grow, and to dream. A world where the laughter of children echoes through the fields, and the thrill of teamwork ignites their spirits. This is the vision behind ‘Sports for All.
Hello, I'm Vivek Allen, a Bhumi fellow currently working in Sri Arangiah Naidu Middle School - Ayanvaram. Students are from low-income family who earns 3000/- per month. Currently, the school lacks a structured sports program, which limits students' exposure to organized physical activities and essential life skills learned through sports, such as teamwork and discipline. Without dedicated coaching, students have no safety in sports. This absence of a sports club means missed opportunities for students to channel their energy constructively, impacting their engagement, physical fitness, and overall enthusiasm. This is the same case in many government and government-aided school. To address this, I’m committed to starting structured sports programs in 5 schools across Chennai.
"Through proper training, my skills will be developed—not just the sports skills but also skills like confidence and teamwork. If I learn a skill now, it will help me in lifelong development. "
-Deepak (Student)
Why Sports?
Every day, countless children face challenges that threaten their futures. Without structured activities, many drift toward risky behaviors—substance abuse, violence, or losing hope. But we can change that. By offering after-school sports programs, we’re giving them more than a game; we’re teaching life skills, hope and confidence that will guide them every step of the way.
"Me being an older person, I myself want to play, and playing makes me happy. Just think how happy children will be if they get a chance to play. Playing together makes the children work in unity; they learn to sacrifice; they help each other. Students develop resilience by being in sports, which helps them to handle success and failure or any other challenges in life."
-Headmaster
But I can’t do this alone. To launch these programs in 5 government schools, I need your help. By raising ₹1,00,000, we can hire trained coaches who will guide these children, mentor them, and instil values that will serve them for a lifetime. Your support can help underprivileged kids engaged, focused, and hopeful for a brighter future.
