People suffering from mental disorders face a lot of stigma and discrimination. Their human rights are often violated. Our trust firmly believes that they require not only medicines, but also adequate and appropriate care. Vocational training plays a vital role in the rehabilitation process, since their minds and hands are engaged in production. We offer vocational training in printing and book binding, dairy farming, bakery, tailoring and other homebased products. During the course of training, they are given incentives based on their skill and output. Some of them are absorbed in the centers as full time employees and 300 persons are placed in different entities.
The press has expertise in offset printing and book binding as it was started in 1995. Presently we are facing difficulties in running the Press since the machineries have become useless due to wear and tear and advancement of technology. We are unable to use the existing printing and other machineries continuously with perfection in execution. Further, we have to incur heavy expenditure for repairs. To run the press effectively, we require upgradation and replacement of equipment and machineries listed in the donation option.
The existing obsolete equipment and machinery will be replaced by the proposed ones within 3 months of getting financial assistance. The existing trainees will be trained in the field of printing and book binding without any break. The persons with mental disability under rehabilitation at our various rehabilitation centers will be assessed and trained in DTP works. The placement cell of the trust will also explore the avenues of their employment in similar industries and assist them to start up their own industry with the assistance of their caregivers and financial institutions.
The vocational training center will be able to provide uninterrupted training and employment to the persons undergoing training. Since we will be having standby gen-set, the center will overcome the problems due to frequent power cuts. The training center will have additional machinery in the form of pinning machine, computer and printers, and it will offer training to more number of trainees. It will empower them to gain employment and lead quality life with respect in the community. Annually, 120 persons will be trained and suitably placed in jobs. The trust will be able to save the cost of printing of required forms, periodicals, annual report, etc.
