1- Prevention and Control of Blindness

There is a huge backlog of patients in need of cataract Surgeries and correction of refractive errors by providing spectacles.

This is more so in far-flung rural areas.

2- Detection and Treatment of Non-Communicable diseases.

Prevalence of Diabetes, Hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases, Bronchial Asthma, Psychiatric disorders, stroke, epilepsy, Thyroid Disorders etc is rising / there is more detection. Patients with such conditions require repeated investigations and lifelong treatment. If treatment is not taken continuously there are severe complications.

3- Ante Natal Care and safe childbirth

Availability of antenatal care which includes routine investigations Ultrasonography and examination by a Gynecologist are very essential for the safety of the mother and the newborn. As these facilities are not available at the village level there is a higher incidence of maternal and neonatal mortality.

All the above programs are functional at Anjali and are implemented by the following activities.

1. Blindness Control Program: Free cataract surgeries, follow up and medicines at Anjali Hospital managed by ANJALI.

Weekly Eye screening camps in Sabarkantha and Arvalli districts with an ophthalmologist, laboratory support and MBBS doctor support. 48 such camps in a year. The patients requiring cataract surgeries are brought to the hospital by bus, operated and taken back after the operation. Provided food, medicines, operation, transportation and follow-up free of any charge.

2 Non-Communicable Disease: Doctors of various specialities are called visiting doctors for diagnosis and consultations. Patients after detection of non-communicable diseases are provided concessional ( 50%,75% and 90 % concessions ) in consultations, medicines and investigations to avoid life-threatening complications.

3 Ante Natal Care and safe childbirth: Provide Concessional/ Free consultation, Investigations, Ultrasonography, childbirth and postnatal visits as well as the examination, investigation and treatment to newborns till the age of 1 month.

1 Reduce the back log of patients in need of cataract surgeries in this area. Perform 48 Eye Camps and about 4000 cataract surgeries.

Correct refractive errors in the population. By performing free cataract operations the save hard-earned money for poor communities. Developed awareness about seeking early examination of eyes for any amount of diminished vision and treatment for the same.

2 Increase treatment compliance of patients with Non Communicable diseases. Reduced number of complications in the patients of non-communicable diseases. Increase awareness in the community about

3 Reduced incidence of Maternal and infant mortality. The facility of childbirth near their villages and in village settings will save the time of patients' family members. Follow mother and child after wards at the village level.
