Construction of dormitory for students.

As per Tamil Nadu State Government rules to run residential schools,40 sq.ft building should be provided for each student. Our school strength is 300. So we have to provide building 300 X 40= 12,000 sq.ft. Existing building is only 4000 sq.ft. To have enough space to accommodate 300 students, we have to build 8000 sq.ft. building. We like to go stage by stage.

Harijan Sevak Sangh was founded by our father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, in the year 1934. This Sangh has branches all over the country. It is running residential primary schools and middle schools for scheduled castes, most backward and backward castes. Hostels are also being run for High School students. Tailoring units are being run for women.

The purpose of establishing residential schools is to bring children of scheduled castes, most backward, and backward castes into the mainstream, and provide them with a good environment, culture, as well as education. These strategies will help children to get education. It is a matter of pride for us that Late Shri K.R. Narayanan, the late President of India, used to tell the people that had there not been a residential school run by Harijan Sevak Sangh, it would have been impossible for him to get school education and finally become the President of India. This is just one of the examples, but the number is countless. People who get education even today express their gratitude towards Harijan Sevak Sangh.
