COVID 19 - Mission Rescue Persons with Disability

The current situation has been devastating for many disabled beneficiaries in Delhi/NCR. With the enforced lockdown and restrictions on movements, many of our disabled people have lost their livelihood, live in solitude in governments hostels and other shelter homes. Their dependency on others is understood - they require the assistance of an attendant for their basic needs viz. meals, medicines and even hospital admissions. Since the crisis in 2020, Our team has been getting SOS calls from disabled beneficiaries on a daily basis, for food, aid and assistance for their well being. The hard truth is that many disabled people are refused treatment and welfare support due to myths and unfounded fear of contracting communicable disease which could lead to them being disabled themselves. The appalling situation is concerning and requires our intervention. The need to create awareness, bust myths, offer counselling support, provide food, medicines and other support services on a war footing is critical to saving the lives of the poor, disabled and the vulnerable.

1. We have Identified 2000 disabled beneficiaries and they have been asked to stay in-house and continue to stay indoors.
2. The local cloud kitchens service providers closest to the identified beneficiaries have been asked to prepare meals and supply them to them
3. Dry rations (1 Packet contain - 5 kg rice, 1 kg dal, 200 g of each Turmeric powder, Salt, Cumin Seeds and Black Mustard and 1 litre Mustard Oil) and immunity enhancers medicines (Zinc and Vit C etc) are sent on a regular basis to these beneficiaries.
4. Maintain beneficiaries details by registering them on our spreadsheet which will be visible to the donors.
5. Monitor and implement the distributions and ensure the identified beneficiaries are taken care of even in case they develop Covid Symptoms.
6. Telemedicine support with our empanelled doctors and monitor their well being.
7. Provide counselling support to the beneficiaries
8. Run awareness camps to counter various myths and unfounded beliefs.

1. Serve over 2000 identified disabled beneficiaries and meet their requirements.
2. To instil a sense of support to these people who are naturally distanced from society.
3. Create a conducive environment where myths and unfounded notions are replaced with an informed helpful, humane approach.
4. We have served more than 5 Lacs meals since March 2020 and need to continue from where we left.
