COVID RAHAT VITARAN

The second wave of the COVID has hit the country badly. The healthcare infrastructure is crumbling under the increasing number of active cases and fatalities. The crisis has gone beyond the metro cities of India, and reached rural India, which are not equipped to handle a crisis of such mammoth severity.

The main issues in rural India are that of awareness and education among the masses on preventive measures; lack of initial medical consultation support and adequate medical supply; and finally hesitancy among the local population to vaccinate themselves owing to the prevalent myths.

And while the current crisis stands tall, the issue is also to build a long-term health infrastructure in rural India to meet the future problems, including the third wave of COVID.

Jagriti has designed following four strands to address the COVID crisis in Deoria and Kushinagar districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. During the first wave of COVID as well we focused on providing ration relief to the migrant workers across these two districts.

Strand 1: Aarogya Saathi

·       Activate our channel of 60 digitally trained women and equip them with necessary knowledge and resources on COVID appropriate behaviours (CAB)

·       Build awareness in the local communities using communication channels like Whatsapp and by making calls

Strand 2: Rahat Vitran

·       Distribute wellness and sanitation kit consisting of OTC Medicines, Immunity booster, mask, and sanitizers among 4000 families

·       Supply 100 oxymeters in the needed families through our on-ground volunteers

Strand 3: DigiSwasthya

·       Create a telemedicine service program by setting up centres in the two districts

·       Set up a helpdesk for local people to call and get first line of support

·       Offer teleconsultation with our national network of doctor volunteers

·       Support with medicine supply

Strand 4: Vaccine Registration

·       Create messages to dispel the myths about vaccine and encourage people to register

·       Deploy Aarogya Saathis to spread information on the vaccine

·       Work with the local administration to facilitate smooth registration vaccine portals like CoWin

We will be covering five blocks of Deoria and Kushinagar districts. We are targeting 20,000 (4000 Families) 

The intended impact is:

·       Creating awareness about and emphasizing the need for people to continue to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviors (CAB) including wearing masks even after

vaccination

·       Issuing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Home Care Services

·       Alleviating social stigma and discrimination against COVID-19 patients and their families through large scale and targeted communication strategies.

·       Supporting the State Governments and District Administration in filling the gaps in the routine delivery of public health services.

·       Coverage of approximately 2600 Gram Panchayats using 60 Aarogya Saathis and 10 Project Coordinators and distributing wellness kits to 4000 families

·       Providing medical teleconsultation to the needy families

·       Cover 2.6 Lakhs+ people for vaccine registration
