COVID relief project for children with special needs and their families

Sri Om Muruga trust runs special school and vocational training center for children with special needs (all kind of disabilities) in North madras. 40 special children's are part of our school. Parents of most of our students are from economically challenged background. Many of our students parents are working for daily wages or for very low wages. Since many companies reduced their man power, most of our children's parents lost their jobs during the COVID pandemic and lockdown . After withdrawal of lockdown also all of our children's and their families are suffering for their daily bread, along with that they are also battling with their special child medical expenses since many of them are jobless. As NGO we had helped them in many ways for the past 6 months, now we are also facing financial crisis. Hence we thought of crowd funding , so that we can support those innocent lives and their families for the next 3 months.

COVID relief project for children with special needs and their families aimed at providing essential groceries worth INR 1000 and small financial support of INR 2000 to the families with special children's so that they can over come the current economic crisis and they can also provide proper medical management for their special children's. With this support they can manage their livelihood.

Each kit contains the following essentials to a family of 4 to 6 members upto 1 month.

1. Rice 10kg

2. Dals 2 kg

3. Cooking oil 1 lit

4. Salt 1 kg

5. Sugar 1 kg

6. Wheat 2 kg

7. Masala packets 3pcs

8. Rava 1/2 kg

9. Soap 3 nos

10. Tamarind 1/2 kg

11. A bag of mixed vegetables

12. INR 2000 for special children's medical expenses.

Each kit cost around INR 1000 for the groceries and vegetables and INR 2000 for medical expenses

Totally INR 3000 is needed to support single family with special child for one month.

We would like to raise funds to support 40 families with special children for next 3 months across North Madras.

Children / People with special needs totally depend on their families. All of these families require our support to cope with the current situation. They are keen to join the work force as soon as possible, but till such time as there is uncertain economic conditions, their survival depends on the support we can provide.
