Scenario 1 - Tuberculosis (TB)
It is often suggested that TB treatment fails because a patient doesn’t take their TB drugs correctly. It is certainly true that if a patient doesn’t take their TB drugs properly it can lead to the development of drug-resistant TB. However, the patient may already have drug-resistant TB. If they already have drug-resistant TB, then the treatment that someone is provided with may result in treatment failure even if the treatment is taken correctly.
Scenario 2 - Communicable diseases
Communicable diseases are illnesses caused by viruses or bacteria that people spread to one another through contact with contaminated surfaces. It takes about 2 to 3 days for the district hospitals and other players (WHO, UNICEF, Care) to respond to the area, and reporting is done by the local health department personnel to the additional PHC, CHC & District Hospital.
Scenario 3 – Non-Communicable disease (Cancer)
As India strides into the 21st century, the spectrum of disease has changed from mainly infectious diseases to more chronic diseases. Till now, the focus has been on treating cancer, less on prevention and on diagnosis. some cancers can be prevented more effectively if diagnosed early.
Scenario 1 - Tuberculosis (TB)
A dedicated frontline worker in a small village can easily monitor patients regularly and also ensure the Doctor is consulted through the Assisted Telemedicine model right from the village to identify adverse drug reactions and report to doctors immediately.
Scenario 2 - Communicable diseases
If there is a dedicated Front-line worker assigned to a village, she/he can quickly identify some of those patients who got infected by the virus, connect with the Doctor through assisted telemedicine immediately and check on the severity of the disease and report to the higher authority for quicker action to control the spread to other families in the village.
Scenario 3 – Non-Communicable disease (Cancer)
Cancer symptoms may vary, however, any abnormal lump/ sore anywhere in the body, along with any abnormal bleeding or discharge needs can be reported to the Doctor through assisted telemedicine. Once again, the Caare Model of a dedicated front-line worker by empowering them with assisted telemedicine can help in the early detection of Cancer.
