Decrypt-it and Make a Difference

Close to 3,70,000 children living in 9500 Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across India have a right to living in safe, protected, hygienic environment akin to children residing with their families. However, this is not the case with most CCIs. CCIs lack the funds/resources to maintain upkeep or upgrade their facilities. On crossing 18 years, children have to leave CCIs, stepping into the complex web of the outside world, having no clue whatsoever as to how to navigate through. This situation exists across nearly all CCIs in the country. In general, CCls are barely able to provide basic needs - clean facilities, basic education, hygiene, healthcare and reasonable nutrition.

Tanisha Kejriwal and Anya Agarwal are two girls who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who are in need of care and protection. Their new business venture, Decrypt-it, aims to help achieve this.

Throughout our school years, we have been interacting with underprivileged children by teaching them, planning and conducting activities with them and simply just getting to know who they are and what their aspirations are. Observing these children’s’ thirst for doing the best they can, made us realise that they deserve equal if not better opportunities than most. We want to continue to help underprivileged children achieve their goals and make a meaningful difference to their lives through doing something we love. Therefore, all of Decrypt-it’s earnings will be donated to adopt an orphanage, which will allow us to help provide homes, resources, and shelter to eager young girls from one of CSA's supported homes in Mumbai.

At Decrypt-it we create personalized clue hunts that can be solved virtually. The hunts vary in length, difficulty, and are tailored exactly to your preferences. What makes these clue hunts truly special is that they’re inspired by and centred around personal memories, relationships and experiences of all participants and loved ones. This makes our product the perfect personalized gift or celebration for any occasion and a great way to spend time together (in-person or virtually).

CSA’s interventions have led to betterment in living conditions, health and education of children under institutional care over the years. At this girls' home in Mumbai, we are aiming to achieve the below listed outcomes across various interventions –

Health & Hygiene - Children will be healthy and personal hygiene indicators of the children will improve. Staff and children of the CCI will be better aware about healthy habits and practices to maintain hygiene

Nutrition - Children in the CCI will consume nutritious food leading to improvements in their BMI, which in turn would lead to age appropriate growth. 

Day to Day Essentials - Children will receive new clothes and usable undergarments to wear.

Fun and learning events will be conducted round the year  

Safe living space - Premises of the CCI will be safer and more secure for the children.

Education - Out of school academic support through tuition teachers will be provided and children will be provided with school kits and stationery. Children will be equipped with requisite life skills training and will be provided career guidance and made aware of career options available to them after exit from the CCI at the age of 18

 We aim to raise INR 5,00,000 that will provide holistic care and support for 50 girls residing at this child care institution in Mumbai.
