Dhanesh Cycles for Girls' Education as part of Umeed 1000 Cyclothon

Dhanesh Srinivasan is a sports enthusiast who is actively involved in athletics, boxing, cricket and marathons. He says that participating in the Cyclothon helps him inculcate the important quality of self-discipline. He feels grateful for this opportunity to serve the society through his passion of cycling.

He believes Cyclothon is an endurance test of one's self-discipline and defines the temperament of the individual. Dhanesh feels it presents to him a fair opportunity to test his mental and physical capabilities. Playing sports for him is life and he strives to live it to the fullest.

Umeed 1000 is a global cause for supporting education of the girl child and through participation in this, he wishes to lend his support to an amazing initiative.

This year, Dhanesh is cycling for Udbhav School, which focuses on Providing holistic English medium education to low income group girl children in urban slums in Hyderabad. IIMA Alumni Association Hyderabad Chapter Charitable Trust took over the school (facing imminent closure) located in Rasoolpura, a slum area of Hyderabad, designated as a notified slum by the government in April, 2013. The IIMA alumni are spurred by the vision that all children should have the same opportunities. The school was renamed as “Udbhav School” by IIMAAA Hyderabad Chapter Charitable trust. Therefore, the Udbhav management is committed to providing the Udbhav children opportunities and education for their all round growth and development. Their vision is to transform the lives of at least 10,000 underprivileged children and their families by 2025.
