Story
- Hundreds of cattle are smuggled daily across Indo-Bangladesh border by cattle mafia. This cross border cattle tracking is a multi million dollar business that is known to fund anti national activities including terrorist movement, fake currency trade, arms smuggling etc. While BSF is making attempts to rescue the cattle to stop this racquet, there is a need to shift and rehabilitate them.
- Stray animals going hungry, more so in current lockdown situation with lesser people on roads, restaurants and food shops closed down, and no tourists.
- There are daily cases of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, road accidents and other atrocities on stray and wild animals in India. Dogs are beaten, poisoned and even burnt alive, cows, bulls and camels are smuggled and butchered illegally, horses are abused, old unproductive animals are abandoned, monkeys are electrocuted, their homes - the forests are cleared - the pain and suffering of animals often goes unheard.
- According to the BSF, Dhyan Foundation is the only organization that has come to their aid in shifting and rehabilitating the cattle rescued from mafia at Indo-Bangladesh Border. Since November 2018, we have successfully shifted and housed nearly 30000 BSF rescues by transporting them and setting up temporary and permanent shelters in Eastern India.
- Dhyan Foundation has intensified its stray feeding drives during the lockdown to feed more than 50,000 dogs, cows, bulls, birds, squirrels, monkeys, langars and more at over 500 spots across India. Even during lockdown, the volunteers were out on the streets to feed strays risking their lives. We also installed water pots for these animals.
- Dhyan Foundation has 30+ shelters Pan India which are home to more than 30,000 rescued animals and the numbers keep increasing daily. We have a 24-Hour Animal Emergency Helpline, 2 animal hospitals and 10 ambulances running in 6 cities. We conduct plastic removal surgeries, vaccination drives, prosthetic limb replacement and physiotherapy for animals, among others.
- With the combined efforts of BSF and Dhyan Foundation in the last 2 years, cattle smuggling on West Bengal - Bangladesh border has been brought to near zero. We wish to achieve the same at Assam, Tripura, Bihar and other NE state borders.
- We want to ensure no one goes hungry, everyone has a right to food and life.
- While saving a life is not in our hand, it is our constant endeavor to reduce pain in Creation, to lend a voice to the voiceless, to provide a forever home to abandoned and rescued animals under personal love and care of our volunteers. Lets not forget it is our fundamental duty as citizens of India - To protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers, wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures.
