Govt. school students do not have regular assessments in school.
The no-detention policy up to class VIII along with poor reading & arithmetic learning in primary grades - is a root cause for students reaching senior classes without proper foundational skills or understanding of curriculum topics necessary for achieving good grades in Science and Mathematics subjects at senior school levels, particularly the crucial X and XII grade Board exams.
These low learning levels in school are magnified by a lack of emphasis from teachers or parents on the significance of academics in professional life.
Unlike their private school counterparts, govt. schools students do not have weekly Unit tests, regular semester and end-term exams, with marked copies, returned to students for checking where they made mistakes so that they can improve upon those.
Overall, students from govt. and rural schools do not realize until it is too late, that their performance in class is of utmost importance and they are not up to the mark as per the grade they are studying in. Then they mostly stumble and fail or drop out of school.
IN-DEED Foundation has developed an AdvancED Solution called PLATform for Personalised Learning, Assessment and Training. Through PLATform - student assessments can be conducted digitally on Tablets.
Advantages:
IN-DEED Foundation has also partnered with BYJU's under their Education for All scheme through which we are making BYJUs educational materials accessible to students for 3 years at no cost.
Realizing where they perform poorly, students can learn from the best teachers in India to better understand specific subjects and topics.
For the first time in government schools and rural areas, Digital Assessments will be conducted by IN-DEED Foundation in 50 intervention schools impacting over 10,000 students directly.
Inter-school competitive assessments will be conducted on Sundays, Holidays, and preparatory leave for board/ final exams - fostering a healthy competitive spirit and motivating them towards continuous improvement.
Students will be able to review how much they understand curriculum topics and how well-prepared they are for exams.
Regular assessments throughout the academic session will ensure students are always aware of the need to learn more and be more serious in their studies.
Digital assessments will allow them to spot careless mistakes, recognize gaps in grasping concepts and notice errors made.
Being able to view the correct answer (highlighted green) juxtaposed with their incorrect answer (highlighted red), will help them remember the correct answer - scoring more in exams.
Continuous assessments, supplemented with online and onsite classes by IN-DEED volunteers and BYJUs A-V learning materials will help students improve their understanding and academic performance.
Overall, self-confidence in individual learning abilities will go up, student performance will improve and larger number of students will go on to pursue higher education with self-assurance, pride and hope for a better future.
