Digitalized Individual Education Program (IEP)- Using technology to aid customized development of special children

Each special child is assigned a development plan basis his IQ level and ability called Individualized Education Program (IEP) unlike a standardized plan implemented in mainstream education Back in 2018, owing to the various challenges that exist because of using the manual IEP (paper-based), such as – Underdevelopment of a child; Lack of a comprehensive database to drive research; inability to transfer best practices and new innovation; difficulty in Individual measurement; lack of measurement tool at a school level, we decided to build a digital tool to ease out the lives of special educators leading to better development of the children

We received funding from a leading IT MNC for the application development and Phase I roll out of the program. The application development was completed in 2019 and the software was first run as a pilot in our own school at Nalasopara. Later, we reached out to around 300 special schools across India and demonstrated our IEP to ~ 138 special schools. As a phase I execution, the software currently has been implemented in 6 special schools across 5 states and at additional 4 special schools, pilot implementation is going on. Our implementation would have been faster had we not faced the disruptions due to COVID. Our plan is to have additional 20 schools in 2021-22 and 75 schools by 2023-24. 

Impacting approx. 10,000 special students, special educators and parents of special need children by 2024.
