North-east India is experiencing a severe climate crisis with floods, landslides, and extreme weather events affecting Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, and West Bengal. Communities are displaced, losing livelihoods, and struggling to access basic necessities like food, water, and medicine. Damaged infrastructure, such as roads and bridges, hampers rescue and relief operations.

In Assam, flooding has impacted over 1.1 million people across 28 districts, with major rivers like Brahmaputra and Kopili overflowing, resulting in 38 deaths. Manipur’s western and eastern Imphal districts are severely flooded due to breached river embankments, affecting critical infrastructure.

Mizoram has witnessed 21 landslides across 28 villages in six districts, causing significant property damage and loss of life. In West Bengal, river embankment breaches have triggered flash floods, threatening nearby populations.

Local communities, NGOs, and organisations like Humanitarian Aid International are actively

engaged in rescue and relief efforts, establishing safe shelters and rebuilding embankments. However, limited resources and the urgency of the situation present significant challenges. The resilience of these communities is being severely tested, requiring urgent national attention and contributions to support the affected individuals and save lives.
