Children are the unseen victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. School closures and lockdowns have pushed them indoors, without a space to play or learn, often in crowded homes. The shift to digital platforms has further increased the learning gap – not many children can afford smartphones. As families lose out on income due to strict lockdown measures, more and more children are having to bear the brunt of poverty. Many of them have already taken to working to support their family. Girls are being married off as they are traditionally perceived as an economic burden.

We can stop children from being forced into child labour or child marriage. We can ensure they get a chance to go to school, make friends, have subjects they excel in, and dream of a better future.

Magic Bus and Laureus Sport for Good is hosting the Resilience Esports FIFA21 Invitational campaign to raise funds for the Education of 1 million children. This mission is supported by several influencers, institutions, and sports organizations, who are donating their time and expertise, and urging their fans, friends, family, residents and philanthropists to step up and help children get back to school.

Every contribution, big or small to this fundraiser goes to Magic Bus India Foundation, an organisation that works with children in the age group of 12 and 18 years, enabling them to complete their secondary education and reducing the risk of early marriage. If you are a FIFA lover, it is a double bonus as your favourite players are also rooting for children’s education in India.

How will your donation help?

A Magic Bus trainer will engage with a child throughout the year using a Sports for Development curriculum. Through these interactive sessions, the child learns about the importance of life skills such as team work, self-confidence, gender equality, personal hygiene, to name a few. These children understand the importance of completing their secondary education as a means to break the cycle of poverty and subsequently go on to get meaningful jobs within the formal sector.

Rs. 500 will support the education of 1 child for 2 months.

Rs. 3,000 will support the education of 1 child for 1 year.

Rs. 30,000 will support the education of 10 children for 1 year.
