Donate Tailoring Training to Poor Women and Girls

The majority of the population in Andhra Pradesh live in villages and depend on the agriculture to make an income. Average farm sizes of around 2-3 acres and complete dependence on rain makes cultivation an unreliable and limited source of income. The situation gets worse for women who are further marginalised by gender discrimination and the division of social classes.

Our aim is to empower disadvantaged women by providing livelihood opportunities to create a stable source of income. We conducted a survey in the region and identified 250 women who were willing to learn new skills to earn money. These women are being provided with free three-month-long vocational courses in subjects such as sewing and embroidery.

On completion of training, all students would be given a new sewing machine so they can begin their own small enterprise.

This program hopes to both enlighten deprived women and financially support their otherwise poor families. A donation of just Rs. 12,000 will go a long way for these women living in rural regions of Andhra Pradesh.
