Story

Introduction

Every child deserves the opportunity to dream, learn, and achieve their potential. However, children from nomadic tribal communities face numerous barriers to education, including constant migration, systemic discrimination, and poverty. These challenges leave them without access to resources or opportunities. With your support, we can change this reality and give these children a chance to thrive.

Meet Swati

Swati, a 20-year-old married woman from a nomadic tribal settlement, always dreamed of going to school. Unfortunately, her education was cut short by child marriage, and societal expectations forced her to focus entirely on family responsibilities. Living in a settlement with no permanent address and limited access to formal schools, Swati’s dream of education seemed impossible.

When Samaveshak, an inclusive social development organization, decided to establish an Abhyasika (study center) in Swati’s settlement to bring the children of the nomadic Gopal community into the educational stream, the journey was fraught with challenges. The systemic discrimination this community faces made it difficult to find volunteers willing to teach the children.

Swati, inspired by Samaveshak’s vision, stepped forward. Despite her limited education and the many hurdles, she faced, Swati showed immense courage and determination. With Samaveshak support, she began her own learning journey and now serves as a volunteer teacher at the Abhyasika. Her dedication has brought education to her community and created ripples of change.

Creating Ripples of Change

Swati’s efforts have inspired many young girls in her settlement to dream of higher education. She is determined to complete her graduation and continue her work as an educator. Swati’s story demonstrates the transformative power of education, proving that one empowered individual can uplift an entire community.

What We Do

Samaveshak works tirelessly to ensure that children in nomadic tribal settlements have access to quality education and the resources they need to succeed.

  • We run free study classes for children aged 6 to 14 in nomadic tribal settlements.
  • Our Community Learning Centre, "Gyan Jyoti Abhyasika", provides a safe space for learning and growth.
  • We supply essential items like uniforms, books, and stationery to children who lack basic necessities.
  • Our morning and evening sessions foster a love for education through singing, storytelling, and art in the children’s native language.
  • We collaborate with schools to enroll children and support their continuous education.
  • We guide parents on accessing government schemes and resources to ensure their children’s educational needs are met.
  • We provide pathways for career-oriented education for older students, enabling them to break free from cycles of poverty.
