Education as an Equalise

Campaign by ASSIST

Story

Swathi faced numerous challenges early in life. Her father abandoned the family, leading them to live with her grandparents. Tragedy struck again in 2020 when Swathi lost her mother. Left with her grandfather and no means of support. A bright student, Swathi wanted to continue her education, but couldn't afford it. ASSIST stepped in. Thanks to regular support from a donor through ASSIST, Swathi received financial assistance as well as support to pursue her education in an engineering college setting her on a bright future.

ASSIST addresses the crucial issue of providing higher educational support and opportunities to socially and economically marginalised rural students. Education, indeed, opens doors to secure futures and job opportunities.

Why higher education?

By focusing on providing scholarships for higher professional education in fields like engineering and medicine, ASSIST is empowering deserving students from single-parent families to pursue their dreams and build better lives for themselves and their families. Prioritising girls students in this endeavour is particularly noteworthy, as it helps address gender disparities in access to education.

The scholarships provided to students studying intermediate and degree courses alleviate financial burdens and enable them to focus on their studies without worrying about finances. This ensures their continuity in education and increases their chances of completing their courses successfully.

After School Programme

Additionally, the After School Programme aimed at providing education to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds is a crucial intervention. By establishing tuition centres and employing teachers to cater to the educational needs of children from 2nd to 10th grade, ASSIST is not only promoting access to education but also enhancing the quality of learning for these children. Moreover, by targeting 150 girl children from 15 communities attending government schools, ASSIST is addressing specific challenges faced by marginalised communities in accessing quality education.

Investing in education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering individuals and communities to lead better lives. ASSIST's initiatives in providing scholarships and after-school programs demonstrate a commitment to this cause and are likely to have a significant and positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries.

You, the donor, can play an important role by joining ASSIST and helping it support many more students. Become a monthly donor. Brighten the future of underprivileged children. Done monthly.
