Education - HIV positive girls/ fisherman's colony

We have come to the time and age that even the poorest of the poor give education priority over other things. Education has now become an industry and has also become very expensive. We at Kiara strive to give underprivileged children the right to education.

The Learned believed that Education is the great enabler and equalizer. It is the force that allows individuals to reach their potential, to dream bigger dreams and to be engaged with a much bigger world. This is the message we want to give the children who cannot afford education.

Education has the power to transform lives – and we want to be supportive of their journey of transformation. Education is something that no one will be able to take away from you.

We at Kiara have 4 Projects

Project A is helping HIV positive Girls to share and compete on the same platform as others. We are supporting the education of 30 HIV positive orphan girls at Desire Society.

Project B is an intervention at the Fisherman’s colony at Madh island where the children have dropped out of school as the pandemic was responsible for many people losing jobs. We will be reinstating them.

▪    We will do this through providing grants, scholarships and partnering with organizations who need our support and have our ethos and can help us demonstrate measurable impact and outcomes which change lives 

▪    We are conducting study classes to assist the children as many tend to fall back.

▪    We are introducing English classes as it is a very important tool to communication

▪    Programs related to yoga, sport, art and craft for overall development.

▪    Conduct awareness programs on health and hygiene.

▪    Conduct periodical medical checkups of children.

▪    Conduct workshops on the mental health of children with the assistance of counsellors and psychologists.

▪    Conduct parenting workshops.

▪    Conduct nutrition workshops w.r.t. good health and immunity.

▪    Training programs under social action to create a safe environment for vulnerable children who could be potential victims of violence and abuse. 

▪    Counselling cell which addresses mental issues of the children.

▪    Programs and workshops for adolescents to face the real world.

▪    Sex Education (self-awareness, personal hygiene, responsibility towards society and recognizing and calling out sexual predators/abusers)

▪    Do’s & Don’ts while using social media.

We wish to bring about social change and what better a tool than Education. Our goal is to reach out to many more beneficiaries who are not able to meet the growing monetary demands of educational institutions. We believe that money spent on education is an investment and we are all devoted to the cause of educating every child who needs it, wants it and makes use of it.

In the next 5 years, we wish to reach out to the more rural areas for the far suburbs of Mumbai.
