Education is the most powerful weapon for the change

A child without education is like a bird without wings. Every kid has a right to study and they deserve our support. The kids of marginalized communities living in the Vatva, Ahemdabad area, don’t have any kind of exposure to secure their future. Their parents don’t have the money to provide them with proper education. Kids are dropping out in class 5th or 6th. There are no government schools, and the private schools are very expensive. The schools which are running currently in the area provide poor quality education.

The issue not only pertains to the fewer education options and the employment issues but also the apprehension against educating girls.

When parents are asked about the reason for not sending their kids to school but bringing them to do the local work, they often say that they don’t have money to provide them education. When kids are asked about the same, they say that they don’t want to study, as there is no point in studying.

Financial and Nutrition support:

Sambodh pays for the school fees of children and also provide supplementary classes. We also want children healthy, and that’s why we are also providing them with nutritional support in the form of snacks so that they can learn with the full stomach and concentrate well.

Appropriate curriculum:

As mentioned earlier, the situation of schools is very poor and we want to upgrade the current curriculum. We are hiring a good bunch of teachers to plan out a good curriculum for them.

Knowledge providing:

Only education and schooling is not important, knowledge of different things is also very important. We believe that knowledge will make them ready to face this world with great competitive capability.

Exposure visits:

With education and knowledge, kids also need exposure to expand their vision of life, career, and future.

Other support: We want them to find their passion and master them. Children are encouraged to be self-confident.

Sambodh stepped up into the field of education in 2017, without any support. We believe that we if want to bring about a change, we need to think for educational empowerment. Children were dropping out after 5th class or 6th class and entering into child labor. This scenario needed to be changed and Sambodh is feeling immense pleasure that our efforts are bringing about some real change.

The capacity to learn is a gift and Sambodh is trying to provide children with a learning journey. The organization started with 25 students who chose to learn willingly and really wanted to learn and do something in their lives. Students of standard 8th to 12th were given admission. .

In 2017-18, which was our first year, we had a total of 25 students and 2 in SSC who failed the exam. In 2018-19, we had 50 students and 17 SSC students, out of which 16 passed.
