Story

According to the 2011 census, India is going to be the youngest country in the world by 2021 with an estimated youth population of 464 million. However, most of this youth population is going to be semi-educated, unskilled and unemployed, leading to many economic and social issues.

Unemployment is one of the biggest challenges plaguing the Indian economy, and it has now become essential to hasten efforts to tap the potential of the youth and measure the employability skills efficiently.

Joining Hands works with youth from the less privileged background who due to social, behavioral or economic reasons had to drop out of regular education. With neither concrete educational background nor any skills, they find it very difficult to find a respectable means of earning livelihood. Through three months' comprehensive training programme focussed on overall development, Joining Hand’s Skill Training Centre based in Delhi provides them with a platform to polish their basic skills such as computer literacy, English, life skills and soft skills and further help them to find employment.

By contributing towards our fundraising target of Rs.2.5 lac, you will help us to train 25 youth to become employable and financially independent.

Started in 2015, the impact so far :

  • Trained over 750 young people and helped nearly 600 gain employment in reputed organizations like Costa Coffee, KFC, Pizza Hut, Café Coffee Day, Marks & Spencer, Reliable Private Limited, Competent Software, Kidzania, Cinepolis, Big Bazar, Pamac Finserv Private Limited, Nandos, Subway.
  • The programme has ensured an attendance as high as 82% with the drop rate is as low as 4%.
  • With an average salary of Rs.10000, most of them have become significant financial contributors to their families and in some cases the only earner in the family. A number of them have also helped their siblings to pursue their higher education.

The first step has been taken, but your support will take it forward. The forthcoming batch comprises of 25 youngsters, who will be trained through an extensive 5-tier model- right from Beneficiary Identification to Post Placement Follow up- and a total of Rs.2.5 lakhs are required for the same. With your help in raising  Rs. 250000, we will be able to train 25 more young people to be financially independent and employable.
