Empower Teenage Girls To Stay Safe From Violence

This Daan Utsav, we are asking you to join us in empowering 600 girls to stay safe from gender-based violence.

Gender-based violence is an all-too-common reality for women in India. We hear about it in the news daily, yet countless incidents go unreported. Young girls face such violence regularly, whether from male peers or within their own homes.

The flagship MukkaMaar Girls program is a 3-year program with bi-weekly classes conducted during school hours in government schools by trained martial arts champions. This year, the program will impact >5000 adolescent girls across Mumbai and Delhi.

The digital program, MukkaMaar with Mukki (MwM) is a WhatsApp chatbot that delivers a condensed version of the flagship program in an interactive, gamified and self-paced format. In partnership with the Ministry of Education, MwM will reach 2 Lakh girls in ~15K schools across the country.

All this is to achieve a single goal.

When a girl believes in her ability to confront violence, she begins to imagine a life for herself beyond one ruled by it. A sense of freedom driven by an imagination of who she can be and what her life would look like free from the burden of violence. To feel and assert her agency.
