Umeed is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2014 with a vision to promote women's empowerment by providing tools and opportunities for women to become valued and equal members of society. We achieve this by equipping women and their support networks with essential skills, mindset, and exposure to empower and support women at multiple levels within the gender ecosystem.
With over a decade of experience working with women on the ground, Umeed has developed two impactful programs that address women's empowerment at both individual and systemic levels. Our FirstLeap Career Readiness & Empowerment program directly enhances the future readiness of young women students from marginalized backgrounds, while SAHYOG, our capacity-building program, empowers government authorities with skills, knowledge, and gender sensitivity to provide career opportunities.
Together, these programs strive to achieve more equitable gender participation in the workforce by addressing the issue at both direct and systemic levels. Our work contributes to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 3, 5, and 8, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

FirstLeap Career Readiness & Empowerment
FirstLeap empowers young women to become confident, career-ready individuals through a four-pillar approach. The program focuses on developing essential skills, cultivating a strong mindset, providing exposure to diverse career opportunities, and fostering family support. Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and hands-on training, women gain the skills and confidence to succeed in their chosen paths. The program's 5-step self-worth curriculum helps women develop self-awareness, self-love, and agency. By engaging parents and families through critical dialogue, FirstLeap creates a supportive ecosystem, enabling women to pursue their goals and achieve their full potential.

SAHYOG
A one of its kind system strengthening program with the State government’s degree college career mentors. SAHYOG is a collaborative pilot program in partnership with The Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Telangana, UMEED, and SVP, India. This Train the Trainer program, led by UMEED, leverages our strength in gender-inclusive mentoring capacity building and aims to empower officials of the Telangana Skills and Knowledge Centre (TSKC).

Through our two programs—one at an individual level and the other at a systems scale—we are on a relentless pursuit to empower women by equipping them with career skills, self-worth, confidence, and professional exposure, while simultaneously reducing the systemic barriers that hinder their decision-making. Umeed has taken countless young women on a transformational path of change.
