The under-representation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields is a significant concern globally. According to UNESCO, less than 30% of researchers in the world are women, and they are often paid less than their male counterparts. In India, only 14% of engineers are women, and the situation is similar in other STEM fields.
This gender gap can be attributed to a variety of factors, including cultural and societal biases, lack of access to educational opportunities, and unconscious biases in hiring and promotion practices. Many women also face challenges in finding job opportunities and advancing in their careers due to the lack of support and mentorship in male-dominated industries.
To address these issues, the "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project aims to provide girls and women with the skills, training, and support they need to pursue and excel in STEM careers. By providing job-oriented training and career support, we aim to bridge the gender gap in STEM employment and help women achieve their full potential in these fields.
The "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project aims to address the under-representation of women in STEM fields by providing job-oriented training and career support to girls and women. Here are the key actions we plan to take and their timelines:
Overall, the project timeline is 12 months, and we plan to measure our success by the number of girls and women who complete the program, find job opportunities, and advance in their careers. We believe that with our approach, we can empower women to pursue STEM careers and bridge the gender gap in STEM employment.
The impact that we aim to create with the "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project is significant and far-reaching. We believe that by providing job-oriented training and career support to girls and women in STEM fields, we can achieve the following impact:
Overall, we aim to impact the lives of at least 100 girls and women in the first year of the program, and we hope to expand the program in the future to reach even more women. By empowering women to pursue STEM careers and achieve their full potential, we believe we can make a significant contribution to building a better and more equitable world.
