Story

The under-representation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields is a significant concern globally. According to UNESCO, less than 30% of researchers in the world are women, and they are often paid less than their male counterparts. In India, only 14% of engineers are women, and the situation is similar in other STEM fields.

This gender gap can be attributed to a variety of factors, including cultural and societal biases, lack of access to educational opportunities, and unconscious biases in hiring and promotion practices. Many women also face challenges in finding job opportunities and advancing in their careers due to the lack of support and mentorship in male-dominated industries.

To address these issues, the "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project aims to provide girls and women with the skills, training, and support they need to pursue and excel in STEM careers. By providing job-oriented training and career support, we aim to bridge the gender gap in STEM employment and help women achieve their full potential in these fields.

The "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project aims to address the under-representation of women in STEM fields by providing job-oriented training and career support to girls and women. Here are the key actions we plan to take and their timelines:

  1. Developing a STEM curriculum: We will develop a comprehensive STEM curriculum that focuses on job-oriented training and is tailored to the needs of girls and women. We aim to complete this task within 2 months.
  2. Building a training infrastructure: We will establish a state-of-the-art training infrastructure, including classrooms, laboratories, and equipment, to provide hands-on training to girls and women. We aim to complete this task within 6 months.
  3. Recruitment and training of trainers: We will recruit experienced trainers and provide them with training to ensure they are equipped to deliver quality training to the participants. We aim to complete this task within 3 months.
  4. Participant selection and training: We will select participants based on merit and potential, and provide them with rigorous training in STEM fields, soft skills, and communication. We aim to complete this task within 9 months.
  5. Job placement and support: We will help participants find job opportunities and provide them with ongoing support and mentorship to ensure they can advance in their careers. We aim to complete this task within 12 months.

Overall, the project timeline is 12 months, and we plan to measure our success by the number of girls and women who complete the program, find job opportunities, and advance in their careers. We believe that with our approach, we can empower women to pursue STEM careers and bridge the gender gap in STEM employment.

The impact that we aim to create with the "EmpowerHER: Job-Oriented STEM Training for Women" project is significant and far-reaching. We believe that by providing job-oriented training and career support to girls and women in STEM fields, we can achieve the following impact:

  1. Increase the representation of women in STEM fields: By providing training and support to girls and women, we aim to increase the number of women who pursue and excel in STEM fields. This will help bridge the gender gap in STEM employment and promote gender equality in these fields.
  2. Improve the quality of the workforce: By providing job-oriented training and mentorship, we aim to equip women with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in STEM fields. This will help improve the quality of the workforce in these fields and contribute to economic growth and development.
  3. Empower women: By providing women with the tools and resources they need to pursue and excel in STEM careers, we aim to empower them and promote their social and economic empowerment. This will help women achieve their full potential and contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society.

Overall, we aim to impact the lives of at least 100 girls and women in the first year of the program, and we hope to expand the program in the future to reach even more women. By empowering women to pursue STEM careers and achieve their full potential, we believe we can make a significant contribution to building a better and more equitable world.
