Empowerment of Differently Able People from Uttarayan

Uttarayan is a registered Trust set up in 1986, with the primary objective of providing support and guidance to children, as well as Adults with special needs and mental handicaps which restrict their ability to lead normal lives. Over the past 3 decades, Uttarayan has been striving to help its students and their guardians meet life's challenges in attempting to integrate with the mainstream of society. The emphasis at Uttarayan is to make learning and growing-up a 'fun' activity. As a result of which the students are always happy and cheerful.

Due to the pandemic COVID 19, the differently able residents were stuck at the facility and not being able to interact with their family and about 5 kids lost their parents to the pandemic. This had caused tremendous stress and extreme psychological disorders among the residents.

To keep the differently able residents gainfully pre occupied to reduce stress, the NGO provided materials to make paper bags, jute bags, diyas so that they could be less stressful and be empowered to generate basic costs.

The NGO also has an objective of sustainability in their teachings and activities by the residents. It not only helps reduce psychological disorders but also helps with environment. The unique statement is when a deprived population of differently able people also learn to be self sustainable while caring for the environment.

We would like to continue and scale up the self sustainability livelihood training and production for which we appeal for funds to buy materials and machines to continue our objective.
