Story

In a country with less than 15% of children meeting recommended standards of fitness & sporting aspirations are marred with systemic hurdles, it's imperative to create innovative pathways for children to achieve their sporting dreams.

At Khel Khel Mein (KKM) we have been carving this pathway since last 8 years with a well researched community centric intervention which cuts across all key stakeholders, kids, parents and the community.

As we complete the first cycle (6 yrs) of our long term player development program impacting 200+ children , the proof points are encouraging.

  • We have been able to ensure 8 hrs/week of MVPA (Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity) throughout the year for consistently 6 years, this is almost double of WHO standards (World Health Organization) recommends

  • Mobilizing communities , parents to send their children for sports regularly & invest in their sporting dreams

  • 1 in every 5 children with 3+ years in our program have been called up to the state selections camp

  • 15 girls played at National Level championship across Football & Kho Kho

  • Our girls football team (aged 14-16) has outperformed in their own category and now competes directly with the senior women's (20+) category. Their current WIN rate is 56%

  • Youngest team (women's football) to get promoted to top tier of a state senior division league

As we kickstart our next program cycle (2024-2030), our key focus is to scale this model deep into the communities involving more children ensuring a stable pool of young athletes who enriches the sports ecosystem sustainably.

This next phase will also witness beneficiaries of last cycle spearheading this program expansion by taking up coaching & community mobilization roles.

In the coming sports season (2024-25) our aim is to enable 4 community coaches nurturing 100 young athletes through holistic training, continued parental education & community awareness

The funds raised through this campaign will help in following aspects

  • Stipend/ Salary to coaches
  • Equipment's & Sports gears for every child
  • Training in proper quality football venues throughout the year
  • Playing 30+ competitive games in a season (double the existing standards in the country at grassroots)
  • A consistent physio support
  • Mohall league engaging 300+ kids through a doorstep fun football experience

Congratulations to Raziya (5th time playing the Nationals), Ruchi (5th time also) and Saloni (3rd time) for representing the Delhi Senior Women's Team at the final rounds of Rajmata Jijabai Senior National Championship at West Bengal.👏👏

It was an immensely powerful learning experience as they brushed shoulders with icons of the game.🤜🤛The resolve of our girls towards a professional footballing career grew even stronger as they shared the pitch and competed against the players whom they have idolized growing up☺️

Our long-term player development program enables players from underserved backgrounds to reach the top level of sports and perform consistently. Some of these girls have now taken up the challenge of scouting & coaching the next generation of champions from the community over the next 2 years.
