Enhancing Livelihood of marginalized tribal children and women of the five hilly terrains of Thally and Kelamangalam Blocks in Denkanikottai Taluk in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

The tribal people are poor, landless and totally depend on the seasonal collection of non-timber Minor Forest Produces (NTMFP). Forest officials support middlemen to exploit these tribals. There is a need for equipping them with skills for involving in viable alternate economic opportunities towards enhancing income and livelihood opportunities. 

• Process initiated for enhancing the economic situation of 500 families of Tribal community of Thally and Kelamangalam block. 
• Involving tribal people in conservation, preservation and protection of the forest

Mobilizing support of the District Tribal Welfare Officer, Forest Officer, NABARD, horticulture officers, agriculture department, Taluk level officials, and creating linkages between tribal people and these officials for support for 150 tribal women in getting permission for collection of Non-Timber Minor Forest Products (NTMFP) and millets, marketing of value addition products supply of seeds and saplings and NABARD support for entrepreneurship trading skills of 50 tribal women from 5 hills

The overall aim of the project is enhancement of socio-economic status of the marginalized tribal community in Kottaiyurkollai, Kodagarai, Gullatty and Thozhuvapetta hilly terrains of Thally and Kelamangalam blocks of Denkanikottai Taluk of Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu
