Story

An appeal from Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement for support to tide over COVID-19 Crisis in India!

As you are aware, the current situation is really dire in India and already many people are DYING due to LACK of OXYGEN.

The numbers will keep rising and the peak patient load is expected in the middle of May 2021 in rural parts. There is an acute shortage of hospital facilities to deliver oxygen. To set up systems to provide this requires significant resources and support from everyone.

Last year, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement ( https://svym.org/) had initiated several interventions reaching over 2.5 million people in Karnataka and saving many lives. This time as well, a wide spectrum of essential healthcare services: hospital, community based, prevention and post discharge care to handle the high case load are planned and implantation has started. The organisation's rural hospital, Vivekananda Memorial Hospital, is serving rural/tribal communities with a dedicated Covid Care Centre.

SVYM is working round the clock to serve those affected by the deadly second wave of Covid-19 through its comprehensive multi-pronged Covid-19 approach. In these trying times, we seek your crucial support for saving lives and reducing the adverse impactof Covid-19 on over 2.5 million tribal, rural and semi-urban populations.

We believe the current COVID situation is not only a health emergency, but a developmental crisis too.

We are directly working on the ground and serving vulnerable communities like indigenous tribal population, People with HIV/AIDs, People with Disabilities, Elderly and People with Chronic life limiting disorders needing palliative care, Migrant workers etc.

COVID-19 infections in them or their family members could result in long lasting devastating impact and has the potential to remove the safety nets that have been created over years of developmental work. We cannot risk their dreams that took decades to build, now shatter in days.

Come, let's join hands to tide over the Covid-19 Crisis...

Apart from saving lives, your support will mitigate the adverse impact of the pandemic on rural/tribal communities and help in rebuilding their lives thru livelihood opportunities for women & youth, support to farmers for sustainable agriculture, sani entrepreneurship and continued education.

Come, let's join hands to tide over the Covid-19 Crisis...
