Every child can learn

We present two heart-warming transformation stories of children with disabilities, identified and nurtured by the educators and resource partners at Perkins India. Children with disabilities reflect learning and integration issues on a moderate to extensive scale. Lower income backgrounds, lack of awareness and access to consultation and counsel accelerate the isolation of children and their families. The team at Perkins India works with state governments and other agencies to identify, integrate and nurture them.

We believe that these stories can raise awareness of children with disabilities, bring our mission to life and provide a glimpse into the transformative narrative of children like Dishu and Rehan.

It’s amazing that children with disabilities rise up to the occasion when empowered with interactions with educators, family and the community. The manner in which all of these converge play huge role in the capacity of the child to overcome adversity. “Let’s celebrate the resilience of children with disability” is the endearing story of young Dishu and her transformation into a little sunshine.

Building empathy with SDG good practices

Perkins lndia’s Project Identification and Intervention (IDI) is a game changer in the field of disability systems. We create the critical link between health and education sectors, by  bringing together eye hospitals and educators to ensure that children with multiple disabilities are identified and receive the intervention services and education they need, in collaboration with several other partners.
