Story
Ek Tara’s community kitchen provides nutritious vegetarian meals and snacks for over 1200 childrenand staff. Kitchen staff, comprising 8 – 10 mothers of Ek Tara students, are trained to prepare wholesome food for 750 students daily. This integrated model in turn helps employ the women of the same community.
Students at Ek Tara come from households with an average monthly income of Rs 6000. Given the cost of living in Kolkata, it is not sustainable for such families to afford three square nutritious meals for all individuals. Ek Tara in collaboration with Make Calcutta Relevant Again would like your help to keep this meal plan program running over the next two years. Below is an outline of the cost of running this program:
Meal for 1 child for a month @Rs 575
Meal for 750 children for a day @Rs 17250
Meal for 100 children for a month @ Rs 57500
We are aiming to raise a total of 50 lacs for 750 kids for the next 2 years. Every contribution counts towards feeding a hungry young child!
