Malnutrition is a serious issue faced among children. This is mainly due to poor diet and inaccessibility of nutritious food. The socio-economic status and poor maternal health can also be driving factors for malnutrition among children.
A child spends most of their time in a day at a school. Not all students have the energy and stamina to attend classes and develop their skills. This is mainly due to the lack of access to healthy meals.
A good nutritious meal at school protects students from classroom hunger, increases school enrolment, attendance and improves the energy and performance among students. As a Food Bank, we work to address the issue of malnutrition and try to break the cycle of hunger by providing hot nutritious meals to school children from low-income families. We ensure that the food given to them is nutritious, served warm and also suits the taste of the children. Regular feedback is taken into account, thus giving these children a choice in what they eat.
We believe that everyone has the right to healthy nutritious meals.
We would like to serve over 50,000 meals to school children by taking care of their food requirement annually. This is possible only through collective support of people. Join us in making a difference, one plate at a time!
