Food and Medicine for 177 Rescued Cats at Love N Care for Animals Shelter

Love N care for Animals maintains a big cat shelter. Recently Love N care for Animals rescued 82 cats from Alipore Correctional Home, West Bengal as this correctional home had been shifted to Baruipur. The inmates of the jail used to feed three hundred cats. After the correctional facility was shifted, 200 cats died due to starvation. Finally, the organization had to rescue the rest. After rescuing the cats, it was found that all of them were very sick. The organisation could not save 8 of them, but 74 cats were saved. Now The organization has 177 cats at its shelter. For maintaining these cats, food materials and medicines are needed.

Love N Care for Animals is worried about these 74 rescued cats from Alipore jail because these cats are very sick. The 177 cats at the shelter are prone to falling sick due to cross-infection. Therefore, the organization has to open the quarantine facility for the 74 cats, which is not very easy. For these 74 cats, the organization has to provide a special high protein diet. All of them are on a drip on a regular basis. Necessary medicines are being administered by the veterinarians. As Alipore jail premises was a very big premise, the cats were used to roaming around in a large field. So, we had to arrange for a free roaming facility for these cats.

The cats are gradually becoming stronger day by day. Now they roam around in their restricted premise, eat better, and are gaining healthy weight. They are better than they were.
