Meet Begar Pullom, a Class 10 student in one of India's most remote government schools.

Every morning, Begar, walks nearly an hour along mountain trails to reach school. Rain or shine, he navigates slippery paths.
By the time he reaches school, much of the energy from his breakfast has already been spent.
Now imagine staying in school until 4PM for extra coaching, with no proper meal in between.
For Begar, and many of his classmates, this isn't imagination. It's reality.
Last year, in Begar’s school in Arunachal Pradesh something extraordinary happened.
In 2024–25, only 1 in 8 students passed the Class 10 board exams.
Just one year later, all 19 students passed.
A 100% pass rate.
This remarkable turnaround wasn't an accident.
Government staff and the Sunbird Team stayed back long after school ended and worked together to strengthen learning outcomes at Government Secondary School, Monigong. Students showed up for coaching classes and continued studying through harsh winters, rainy days and holidays.
Today, we have an opportunity to make sure that success continues.
The challenge
Monigong lies high in the mountains of Shi-Yomi district in Arunachal Pradesh, 30km from the India-China border. Life here is beautiful, but difficult.
In Northeast India, most students traditionally eat breakfast before school and lunch only after returning home. Packed lunches are uncommon, particularly in Monigong, where food quickly turns cold during the 0°C winter months.
With extended coaching sessions now continuing into the afternoon, many students struggle to stay energised through the additional hours of learning. A simple warm, nourishing snack can help them remain focused and make the most of these classes.
Sunbird Trust is working with Government Secondary School, Monigong through its Government School Transformation Programme to strengthen education in one of India's most remote communities.
This year, we want to provide a nutritious afternoon snack to 42 students preparing for their board exam journey, 15 students in Class 10 and 27 students in Class 9.
Whether it's a boiled egg, a samosa, or another freshly prepared local snack, every meal will help students stay energised through their extended coaching sessions.
A snack cannot guarantee exam results.
But no student should have to struggle through extended learning hours on an empty stomach.
Here's how you can help
For just ₹30, you can provide one student with one nourishing snack.
Over one academic year, the cost is:
₹30 × 22 school days × 10 months × 42 students = ₹2,77,200
Your support can help provide:
₹165 – Nutritious snacks for one student for one week
₹660 – Nutritious snacks for one student for one month
₹6,600 – Nutritious snacks for one student for the entire academic year
₹2,77,200 – Nutritious snacks for all 42 students for the year
Board exam preparation has already begun.
Every week that passes is another week of long study hours for students who often go the entire school day without another nourishing meal.
Your support today can begin making a difference TODAY.
Last year, these students proved what they are capable of.
This year, let's make sure hunger isn't what stands between them and their future.
