Can we have a Swachh Bharat and Viksit Bharat without "functional toilets" at organizations that are meant to serve women and children? Anganwadis provide health, education and well-being support to kids, women and mothers. Most Anganwadis however, have a toilet just in name. They don't have a functional toilet because there are no taps, or no tank, or no motor to pump water in tanks, or broken doors, or falling cement, or lack of light/electricity.
We are not delivering anything fancy, just the basics. Beyond toilets we also fix whatever is necessary for a 'functional anganwadi', be it roofs, floors, gates, windows, electricity, storage, or furniture. However, these basics are mission critical. As they say, often a war is lost for want of a nail. We have now supported several Anganwadis and the staff has been really happy (see videos in gallery.) To expand our work further we will need your support.
The government has provided a good land space, good workers that get paid, built good apps, but often needs support from community/citizens where it falls short.
Your support goes a long way in helping the marginalized parents that can't afford private healthcare, and education. It also helps some mothers go out to work while kids spend time at Anganwadis. It also ensures that the female Anganwadi staff, ASHA workers don't have to hold their bowels for 4-6 hours of their work.
