Gaja Cyclone relief in Vedaranyam

Gaja cyclone on November 16th, 2018, shook the entire Nagaattinam District along with the adjacent districts of Tanjavure and Pudukkottai. 3.5 lakh houses were totally destroyed, millions of trees were removed from their roots. The death toll due to this cyclone which lashed the Nagapattinam district is estimated to be in a few hundreds. Thousands of animals living in the Kodiyakadu forest and birds sanctuary lost their lives, along with cattle. The people who survived are in a pitiable condition. Twenty lakh survivors of the cyclone are in dire need of food, cloth, drinking water, and temporary shelter.

Urgent relief materials in the form of food, water, medicine, shelter, and nutritious food is required for 10000 families in our project area Vedaranyam, where we have been working and have project office since 2009. Children needs milk, nutritious food, and medicine. In this programme, the urgent relief packages are to be provided for 10000 cyclone survivors’ families.

We are starting with providing food packages to flood survivors to save them from starvation and related health issues. Children need milk, nutrition, and medicine. Blankets and bedsheets are provided to them to save them from cold and water-prone diseases. Temporary shelter and food provision for the homeless people will be provided till the rehabilitation work is started.

This relief work will save the survivors from hunger and death. Health support will protect them from diseases and thes risk of death. Children will be protected from diseases and lack of nutrition. Shelter will protect the survivors from cold and other health issues. We request your kind support to help bring the lives of the affected people back to normal.
